Is this another nail in the coffin for Vista?

Microsoft confirmed recently that PC makers will offer customers that buy Windows 7 PCs the ability to continue using Windows XP through downgrade rights.

“We will offer downgrade rights from Windows 7 to Windows XP in the same way we did with Windows Vista,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. “Volume licensing customers have always had the option of downgrading to a previous version of Windows.”

We have been working diligently and have a myriad of exciting new products that we are releasing over the next few months.  Earlier in the month we introduced our new Model: TT-840 rugged 8.4″ weatherproof LCD. This unit was primarily developed for the Marine industry however is also ideal for industrial applications.

Today we have added to the family with the newly released LPC-625F Fanless Little PC. We have had great success with our fanless PC products. People love the fact that they are virtually noise free and do not suck any dust inside.  As you know an accumulation of dust and dirt can be drawn in by cooling fans resulting in the cooling fan and component failure due to heat build up. Our fanless machines prevent catastrophic failures from occurring and are ideal to deploy in areas where a typical PC cannot function.

Many of the tier one PC manufacturers and retail outlets will be discontinuing their offerings of Windows XP at the end of this month, June 30^th 2008.

Under Microsoft’s Windows life-cycle policy, Systems Builder like Stealth Computer will be able to offer WIN XP license until Jan 31, 2009

Windows XP Home and Starter editions will still be preloaded on ultra-low-cost PCs through June 30, 2010, or one year after the launch of the next version of Windows – whichever comes first, the company said.

In the meantime there’s been much speculation about Windows 7 as Vista sales and upgrades continue to be lower than anticipated.
